Chromag Catalogue

Really stoked to have had the chance to design the 2012 Chromag catalogue with Chris Armstrong at Patent Pending Ideas! I am really happy with how it turned out. It is SEXY! Spot colour bears on a gloss finish and the epic photos by Robin O'neil, David Fornier, Adrian Marcoux and Jinya Nishiwaki made it pretty easy to make it look good. One of my favourite bike companies and crew of people!

If you haven't seen it, get your hands on one! Here are a few teaser pages.......

Evolution Window Wrap

Stoked to have the opportunity to design a window wrap for Evolution Bike Shop, here in Whistler, BC.

The project involved 4 window panels. 2 showing The Coastal Crew's new movie,  From the Inside Out, in conjunction with 2nd Base Films and Rock Shox, premiering Fall 2011. And the other 2 panels were reserved for Sram, Rockshox, Avid and Truvativ that would include product showing through from inside the store.

Designing is like problem solving and although I had a lot of freedom with this one, it was still a challenge making it fit, stand out, include all the right logos etc. and coming up with a theme that would keep the 2 displays seperate but tied together.

I decided that the Coastal Crew are like a small pack of wolves....searching, scoping, digging and sniffing around in the woods on their bikes. The design consists of a "woods" theme with layering, texture, appropriate colour palettes, an epic photo by Nicholas Teichrob, some forest animals(a squirrel collecting derailleurs) and voila! Heres what I came up with....

final design

managed to get a photo before she comes down....bit glarey in the afternoon sun though :(

Overall, a challenging but fun project. Happy to have learned in the process too...always!

Inspiration Everywhere!

I am back in my hometown of Whistler BC for the summer months and how beautiful it is! Definitely can find inspiration here....always. Will be based here this mountain bike season, training, racing, coaching and creating!

On the design side of things, I've been doing a variety of freelancing: some web design, business cards, banners and some T-shirt designs. I am also working with Chris Armstrong of www.whistlermountainbike.com and Patent Pending Ideas a couple days a week. So stoked because I can learn a lot from him since he has a serious amount of experience and a huge range of clients. I'm also back at Evolution  a few days here and there, love being surrounded by art and fashion and the bike/snowboard cultures.

Here are a few designs I have created for my own clients:

Business Card design for another eyelash extension business.

T shirt design for a brand new apparel brand in Oz.

Banner design for a MTB Suspension Service and Tuning business.

Today really felt like spring, the sun was out, people were on the patio watching the game....Go Canucks! Killing it!

Eyelash Envy

Just finished some Business, Appointment and Aftercare Cards for an eyelash extension and spa services business here on the Gold Coast Australia. Am also working on their website, should be done in the next week!

Using colours and design elements, the aim was to achieve the feeling of femininity, serenity and indulgence. As well as quality and professionalism, of course.

Sullivan Films Business Cards

Did some business cards for Christian Sullivan at Sullivan Films(his logo was previously designed by Toot Toot Designs). The cards have a creative/unique shape/bit of artsy flair to reflect his work and a clean and professional layout to reflect the quality of his work :)

Tree Art.

As you know, I love drawing trees. Came across some random tree art in the gumtree forest where we ride. Someone was definitely getting creative out there.....

Just thought I'd share that with you. Been busy lately with training, riding, coaching and doing some designs for the Western Open mountain bike event and some web stuff for Annum snowboard clothing. Back to work!

Winter

Well I'm not really in winter since I left the great white north behind......being on the tropical coast of Queensland during the holidays is strange but I can't complain too much. I just create a little winter scene to remind me of what I miss.

A little fabric, glue, paper and pencil and voila - we have a christmas card!
Happy New Year everyone!
